Smiles of a Summer Night

“A sexy frolic about the sport of love”

Fredrik Egerman (Gunnar Björnstrand), a middle-aged lawyer, wants his young wife Anne (Ulla Jacobsson) to share his bed, but after two years of marriage she still has not. His old flame Desirée (Eva Dahlbeck) bets she can win him back at a weekend retreat where four couples gather. Bergman sets it in the early 1900s, and the pairings begin to shift as the guests settle in.
