“Exquisite romance!”

On the morning of his wedding, Sir John Carteret (Leslie Howard) loses his bride Moonyeen to a jealous rival named Jeremy, and he withdraws from the world for thirty years. He takes in her orphaned niece Kathleen (Norma Shearer) and raises her, only to see her fall for Kenneth Wayne (Fredric March), the killer's son. Sidney Franklin plays the story as a ghost tale and a love story at once, with Carteret still talking to Moonyeen's spirit.
