Smilla's Sense of Snow

“Some Tracks Should Never Be Uncovered.”

In Copenhagen, a small Inuk boy falls from the roof of the housing complex where Smilla Jaspersen (Julia Ormond), a Greenlander living far from home, has her flat. The police call it an accident, but Smilla reads the snow, and the footprints on that roof tell her otherwise. Bille August has her follow the trail toward a corporation and its expeditions to Greenland, and she goes on alone, dark against the snow.
