“The most precious things are lighter than air.”

In Brooklyn, a cigar shop run by Auggie Wren (Harvey Keitel) is where the neighborhood stops to talk. One morning Paul Benjamin (William Hurt), a writer still grieving his murdered wife, steps out of the shop and into the path of a bus, and a stranger named Rashid pulls him back. Wayne Wang lets the film settle into these small rooms and conversations, giving each of them room to run on.
