Victor Joseph (Adam Beach) hasn't seen his father Arnold (Gary Farmer) in ten years, and he has no wish to start now. Then word arrives that Arnold has died, and Thomas Builds-the-Fire (Evan Adams), the oversize-glasses storyteller nobody on the reservation will listen to, offers to pay for the trip to bring the remains home. Chris Eyre sends the two of them out together, and Victor has to carry back a father he never forgave.
