Smokey and the Bandit

Why would anyone pay to haul a truckload of beer from Texas to Atlanta in under 28 hours? Bandit (Burt Reynolds) takes the job anyway, with his friend Cledus (Jerry Reed) driving the load while Bandit runs ahead in a black Trans Am to draw off the law. Hal Needham, a stuntman directing for the first time, sends him down the highway, where he picks up Carrie (Sally Field), a runaway bride, and a bet that leaves him no room to slow down.
