Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

In 19th century China, two girls are matched as laotong, lifelong friends, and begin writing to each other in a private script no one else can read. Lily (Li Bingbing) and Snow Flower (Gianna Jun) hide their words on a fan, in a world where women are bound by rigid rules. Wayne Wang follows the pair into adulthood, with a secret code as the only thing that is truly theirs, and their bond at risk of breaking.
