Snow Trail

“A FILM BY SENKICHI TANAGUCHI”

In the winter of 1947, three bank robbers run from the police into the mountains of the Japanese Alps. Eijima (Toshirō Mifune) and Nojiri (Takashi Shimura) hole up at a small inn, where a young woman, Haruko (Setsuko Wakayama), her father, and a mountaineer named Honda (Akitake Kōno) take them in as ordinary travelers. Senkichi Taniguchi, working from a Kurosawa screenplay, puts the two men at the inn's table, warm and fed, while the white peaks outside wait.
