“The fairy tale is over.”

Lilli Hoffman (Monica Keena) wants one thing in her father's castle in fifteenth-century Germany, and that is to keep her dead mother's place in the house. Then Lord Friedrich Hoffman (Sam Neill) remarries, and his new wife, Lady Claudia (Sigourney Weaver), answers to a mirror that promises her power over every living thing. Michael Cohn plays the old Grimm story as a gothic horror picture, with the forest closing in darkly around a girl who has been driven out.
