So Long, My Son

“We're waiting to grow old.”

Liu Yaojun (Wang Jingchun) and Wang Liyun (Yong Mei) work in a factory in the 1980s, raising their son beside their closest friends, Shen Moli (Qi Xi) and Shen Hao (Du Jiang). Wang Xiaoshuai follows both families from that crowded workplace into the present, across decades of vast social and economic change in China. Both couples are carrying their families through those years, and everything they have built together is at stake.
