Someone is killing unfaithful wives, and at every scene he leaves compromising photographs of them behind. Inspector Capuana (Farley Granger) takes the case, working through victims whose private lives are suddenly laid out for the whole city to see. Roberto Bianchi Montero keeps the husbands close to the investigation, and the question that follows Capuana home is whether his own marriage to Barbara (Sylva Koscina) can survive what he learns.
