Solarbabies

“From a distant star a powerful and mystical force comes to Earth. And for those brave enough to follow, it will change their lives forever.”

In a future where most of the Earth's water is gone, a group of mostly teenage orphans live under the despotic rulers of a harsh new world. They are held together by a roller-skate hockey game they play very well, and by Jason (Jason Patric) and Terra (Jami Gertz), who lead the team. Alan Johnson, a choreographer by trade, sends them skating out across the wasteland with an orb the storm-troopers want back.
