“The most savage film in history!”

A cavalry detail is cut down by the Cheyenne, and only two people walk away: Honus (Peter Strauss), a young private who still believes in the army, and Cresta (Candice Bergen), a woman who spent two years living with the Cheyenne. They set out on foot for the main camp. Ralph Nelson lets the trek wear down the distance between them, a soldier's loyalty and a woman's sympathies pulling in opposite directions.
