“A Girl Can Lift A Fellow To The Skies!”

Rocky Graziano (Paul Newman) grows up fighting on the streets of New York's Lower East Side, and he keeps fighting through reform school and a stretch in the army. Robert Wise follows him toward the ring, where Irving Cohen (Everett Sloane) sees a middleweight in the kid, and toward Norma (Pier Angeli), who sees a man worth loving. Rocky wants a life that isn't a cell or a gutter, and he has only his fists to buy it with.
