Somebody Up There Likes Me

Bob Byington's film covers thirty-five years in the life of Max (Keith Poulson), a waiter, and his best friend Sal (Nick Offerman). Lyla (Jess Weixler) is the woman they both adore, and the three move through weddings, funerals, hospitals, divorce courts and a tool shed, never quite getting what they came for. The years go by in short, deadpan scenes, and time keeps arriving a little ahead of everyone.
