Something to Sing About

(1937)Directed by Victor Schertzinger93 minComedy, Romance
“A Cagney you have never seen!”

In 1937 New York, Terry Rooney (James Cagney) leads a dance band and finds himself on the wrong side of a Hollywood studio boss. Victor Schertzinger, who also wrote the songs and the story, gives Cagney a rare low-budget showcase for the singing and dancing he started out with, alongside Evelyn Daw and William Frawley. The film is built on the plain idea that a good tune and a quick pair of feet can win a room over.
