Sommersby

“She knew his face. His touch. His voice. She knew everything about him ... But the truth.”

Laurel Sommersby (Jodie Foster) has spent the years since the Civil War keeping a Southern farm running alone, certain her husband died in battle and not sorry to be rid of a hard man. Then Jack (Richard Gere) walks back up the road, kinder and gentler than the man she remembers, and her neighbors begin to whisper that he is someone else. Jon Amiel sets the question against her growing wish to believe him, and a stranger's word could cost her the farm.
