“Destiny is calling.”

Cassius Green (LaKeith Stanfield) is broke and living in his uncle's garage in an alternate present-day Oakland, so he takes a job at a telemarketing firm where nobody picks up the phone. Boots Riley puts Cassius among activist friends like Detroit (Tessa Thompson) who want to unionize, and he has to decide what he'll trade for the commissions.
