Thomas Chacko (Mohanlal) grew up under Chacko Master (Thilakan), a school headmaster who found fault with him at every turn and put him down in front of other people. He ran from that house as a young man and comes back years later as Aadu Thoma, a gangster feared in the town he left. Bhadran builds the story around what a father's contempt does to a son, and how long a boy will spend trying to become a man his father cannot dismiss.
