Ed Flanders plays John Woodley, a man who wants the nuclear devices around Charleston, South Carolina destroyed, and who takes four people hostage to force the demand. Edward Zwick stages the film as a live NBC broadcast, with anchors and field reporters cutting in and a regular evening of programming given up to the story. Susan Myles (Kathryn Walker) and the others are held while the group threatens to set off its own device if nobody gives way.
