“Rush hour hits the water.”

Alex (Jason Patric) is a cop on vacation with Annie (Sandra Bullock), the woman he hopes to propose to, and they board the Seabourn Legend for a Caribbean cruise. Then Geiger (Willem Dafoe), a former employee with a grudge, takes the ship, sets it on a fixed course, and cuts off every means of communication. Jan de Bont keeps the cameras close and moving as Alex and Annie work through the hulls, decks and passengers, trying to stop a liner that cannot be steered.
