“A comedy that's over the limit and beyond the law!”

Charlie (John Candy) is a cheerful racer with a car and a place in the Cannonball, the illegal race that runs across the United States. The sponsors have to find new contestants after the previous racers are all arrested before the start, so Jim Drake fills the field with oddballs and new cars, with the cops and a damsel in distress waiting along the road. It's a third trip down the same highway, built on the idea that a good time is worth more than a finish line.
