Spencer's Mountain

“Clayboy's schoolteacher impresses upon Clayboy the following phrase, "The world steps aside to let a man pass, if he knows where he is going"”

Clay Spencer (Henry Fonda) has been promising his wife Olivia (Maureen O'Hara) a house on the mountain for years, and the frame still isn't finished. Delmer Daves keeps the family crowded into the same small rooms, with Clay's drinking buddies close at hand. His eldest, Clayboy (James MacArthur), could be the first Spencer ever to go to college, if the tuition money turns up and a pretty girl in town doesn't get there first.
