“Terror can fill any space.”

Dr. Norman Goodman (Dustin Hoffman) is a psychologist who studies people under stress, and the Navy flies him out to the Pacific with specialists he barely knows. On the ocean floor sits a spacecraft at least 300 years old, and in its cargo bay rests a giant, perfect sphere. Levinson sends them down with Dr. Beth Halperin (Sharon Stone) and Dr. Harry Adams (Samuel L. Jackson), and Norman, the one trained to read minds, is the first to feel his own start to slip.
