“Some legends can never be tamed.”

In the Old West of the late 19th century, Spirit (Matt Damon), a Kiger mustang stallion, leads a herd across open country. Cavalry soldiers under the Colonel (James Cromwell) capture him, and Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook follow him from fort to rail yard. Spirit takes the saddle, the rope and the whip, and he will not stop trying to get back to his herd.
