“What you like, others will also like.”

A small wooden temple floats on a still lake in a pristine forest, and the only door to the water opens onto a boy in the care of one old monk (Oh Young-soo). Kim Ki-duk follows the boy through one season after another, from his first lessons as a child to the long span of his life that follows. The temple stays where it is, its gate standing open to the lake and the trees behind it.
