Stanley and Livingstone

“He succeeded in the maddest quest in History...because one girl believed in him!”

A Scottish missionary has vanished somewhere in Africa, and no one knows whether Dr. David Livingstone is alive. Newspaperman Henry M. Stanley (Spencer Tracy) is sent to find him by his editor James Gordon Bennett, fresh from the western Indian wars. Henry King and Otto Brower film the long push inland as a friendship between the two men, Stanley the brash reporter and Livingstone (Cedric Hardwicke) the patient doctor.
