“The price of stardom was more than she bargained for.”

In the late 1970s, Paul Snider (Eric Roberts) is a small-time hustler in Vancouver who thinks of himself as a ladies' man. Then he spots Dorothy Stratten (Mariel Hemingway) behind the counter of a Dairy Queen, and under his guidance she becomes a Playboy Playmate, which draws her toward Hugh Hefner (Cliff Robertson). Bob Fosse stays close on Paul as the famous men around her crowd him out, a man who has staked everything on someone who no longer needs him.
