Rey seeks out Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), the last Jedi, hoping he will join the Resistance and stop Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) from destroying everything she cares about. Luke has hidden himself on a remote island, done with the Force and the war, but Rey's arrival forces him to confront what he abandoned and why. Rian Johnson builds the film around two people learning to trust each other across the wreckage of broken faith.
