Starship Troopers

“A new kind of enemy. A new kind of war.”

In the 23rd century, a world government called the United Citizen Federation is at war with giant arachnids known as the Bugs. Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) joins the Mobile Infantry as a teenager and climbs from recruit to sergeant to officer, with Dizzy Flores (Dina Meyer) and Carmen Ibañez (Denise Richards) among those around him. Paul Verhoeven directs the whole thing like a recruitment broadcast, bright and cheerful and entirely straight-faced.
