“A STRANGER IN TOWN...WHERE STRANGERS WEREN'T WELCOME!...and he found out a gal double-crossed is Deadly as Poison!”

Lt. John Martin Haven (Dick Powell) wants the men who killed two cavalrymen guarding a gold shipment, and the Army sends him to find them. He goes undercover in a mining and logging town, working through Charlie (Jane Greer) and Mrs. Mary Caslon (Agnes Moorehead) for what the locals will say. Sidney Lanfield, working from a Luke Short novel, lets Haven's questions do most of the driving.
