Stella
Eleven-year-old Stella (Léora Barbara) can read a poker table better than a grammar book, and nobody at her new school in Paris can work out where she picked it up. Sylvie Verheyde draws on her own childhood, setting the film in 1977 and sending Stella from her parents' bar into a prestigious school and a classroom of strangers. Behind her, Roselyne (Karole Rocher) and Serge (Benjamin Biolay) keep the bar open while the cards, smoke and noise carry on.
