“Sure - I like a good time!”

Stella Dallas (Barbara Stanwyck) comes from a working-class family and wants one thing above the rest: a future in good society for her daughter Laurel (Anne Shirley). King Vidor follows the two of them through the years of Laurel's growing up, with Stella's loud, eager devotion always in plain view. Every choice Stella makes is bound up with the girl, who loves her mother and sees her clearly.
