Tyler Gage (Channing Tatum) is a restless kid from a rough neighborhood who gets caught vandalizing a performing arts school. As punishment he ends up working there, and a chance to earn a scholarship puts him on the floor beside Nora Clark (Jenna Dewan), a dancer with a place in the program and a recital to prepare. Anne Fletcher's film is about the ones nobody expected to belong, and the work it takes to get let in.
