Stir of Echoes

“In every mind there is a door that should never be opened.”

Tom Witzky (Kevin Bacon) is a working-class family man living in a cramped Chicago neighborhood of close neighbors and thin walls. A party game goes wrong when his sister-in-law Lisa (Illeana Douglas) hypnotizes him, and afterward he starts seeing a girl who is not in the room. David Koepp, adapting Richard Matheson's novel, keeps the camera close to Tom's house and his own worn, sleepless face.
