“Where Pride Began”

Why does a ten-dollar bill and a bus ticket out of small-town Indiana end up at Christopher Street in the summer of 1969? Danny Winters (Jeremy Irvine) gets there after his parents throw him out, and he falls in with the street kids of the Village, among them Ray (Jonny Beauchamp), who sleeps where he can. Roland Emmerich lets the friendship between these two carry the film toward the night of June 28, when the police raid the bar.
