Stormy Waters

“A tempestuous love story in the great French style...!”

Captain André Laurent (Jean Gabin) takes his tugboat out into a storm to save a cargo ship that is sinking, and the woman he lifts from it is Catherine (Michèle Morgan). He has a wife at home in Yvonne (Madeleine Renaud), and Jean Grémillon, working from a script by Jacques Prévert, puts all three of them in the same small port. André keeps telling himself he is only doing his job, and he keeps going back out to sea.
