Story of a Prostitute

Harumi (Yumiko Nogawa) volunteers to go to the Manchurian front as a comfort woman, knowing she will be expected to serve hundreds of soldiers. The brutal Lieutenant Narita (Isao Tamagawa) claims her for himself, and she is drawn instead to his quiet subordinate Mikami (Tamio Kawachi). Seijun Suzuki's film sets their love inside the army's own codes of honor, which neither man can step outside.
