Straight Time

“"Please God, don't let him get caught."”

Los Angeles, and Max Dembo (Dustin Hoffman) walks out of prison after six years with a parole file and a list of rules. He takes a regular job and meets Jenny Mercer (Theresa Russell), and for a while the plan holds, though his parole officer Earl Frank (M. Emmet Walsh) watches him closely. Ulu Grosbard gives Max one person who trusts him, and the film stays on how much she is willing to see.
