Strange Illusion

(1945)Directed by Edgar G. Ulmer87 minThriller, Mystery

In 1945, Paul Cartwright (Jimmy Lydon) is a young man whose father is dead and whose widowed mother, Virginia (Sally Eilers), has taken up with a charming new suitor, Brett Curtis (Warren William). Edgar G. Ulmer, working on a small budget, loosely follows Hamlet through a story of suspicion and bad dreams. Paul lies awake, convinced that Curtis had a hand in his father's death, and starts watching the man closely.
