Strange Impersonation

(1946)Directed by Anthony Mann68 minRomance, Thriller, Drama
“Hell hath no fury as a woman scalded by acid.”

Nora Goodrich (Brenda Marshall), a research scientist testing a new anesthetic, loses her face to a burn her scheming assistant arranged on purpose. Her almost-fiancé, Dr. Stephen Lindstrom (William Gargan), seems to have walked out on her, and a woman she knocked down with her car starts blackmailing her. Anthony Mann sets Nora, Stephen and the rival, Arline Cole (Hillary Brooke), in a triangle that tightens as the story goes.
