Strictly Ballroom

“A life lived in fear... is a life half lived.”

Scott Hastings (Paul Mercurio) is a championship ballroom dancer whose own new steps are putting his whole career at risk, and nobody around him will say why that is such a crime. When he picks Fran (Tara Morice), a beginner, as his partner, the federation men run by Barry Fife (Bill Hunter) start to close ranks. Baz Luhrmann plays it all as a stage show of sequins, rules and family pride, about whether you dance the way you're told or the way you can't help.
