“Two brothers meet at their mother's funeral, each in his way on a path of self-destruction, both haunted by a tragedy in their youth.”

Nick (Jakob Cedergren) comes out of prison after serving time for an assault, with a bed in a shelter, a drinking habit, and one old friend he wants to help. When their mother dies, he meets his younger brother at the funeral, a single father to a young boy and deep in a drug habit of his own. Thomas Vinterberg follows the two men back to a night in childhood that Nick has carried through every year since.
