Suddenly, Last Summer

“Suddenly, last summer, Cathy knew she was being used for something evil!”

Violet Venable (Katharine Hepburn) offers a young neurosurgeon, Dr. Cukrowicz (Montgomery Clift), a generous endowment if he will operate on her niece Catherine (Elizabeth Taylor). Catherine went mad after watching Mrs. Venable's only son die on a vacation abroad, and Joseph L. Mankiewicz keeps the story close around the two women and the doctor between them. If the surgery goes ahead, whatever Catherine saw is lost with her.
