Suffragette

“Mothers. Daughters. Rebels.”

Maud Watts (Carey Mulligan) is a laundry worker who never meant to be anyone's radical, until a chance encounter pulls her toward women who are meeting in secret and hunted by the police. Sarah Gavron follows Maud and others like Edith Ellyn (Helena Bonham Carter) as the State answers their defiance with greater force each time. Every step further in costs Maud more: her job, her home, her family.
