A nameless gunfighter (Hideaki Ito) rides into a town split between two gangs, and both want to hire him. He listens to the offers and decides on his own side. Takashi Miike stages the standoff among the clan of Kiyomori (Koichi Sato) and the clan of Yoshitsune (Yusuke Iseya), where each leader eyes the stranger as a weapon to be owned and pointed at the other.
