Summer Interlude

(1951)Directed by Ingmar Bergman96 minDrama, Romance
“An intimate love story—frank, fresh, and delightful in its telling!”

In Stockholm in 1951, between rehearsals, the ballerina Marie (Maj-Britt Nilsson) holds a brief summer break and a diary that sends her back thirteen years to her first love. Ingmar Bergman places her at the summer of Henrik (Birger Malmsten), a shy student, with Uncle Erland (Georg Funkquist) nearby. Marie sits in her dressing room, the diary open on her lap, the mirror lit and the theater empty.
