“Shut up, crime!”

Nobody can say why a fry cook named Frank Darbo (Rainn Wilson) puts on a red costume and calls himself the Crimson Bolt. His wife Sarah (Liv Tyler) has gone to Jacques (Kevin Bacon), a drug dealer, and Frank has no powers, no training, and a pipe wrench. James Gunn plays it dry and ugly, and the film is plain about its idea: wanting to be good does not make a person good at it.
