“It arrives.”

In 1979, in a small Ohio town, Joe Lamb (Joel Courtney) and his friends are shooting a homemade zombie movie on Super 8 film, with Charles Kaznyk (Riley Griffiths) running the set. Then a train derails in front of their camera, and afterward the town starts losing people and things it cannot account for. J.J. Abrams keeps Joe and Alice Dainard (Elle Fanning) close to the camera, the little reel still turning in the dark.
