Superman

“You'll believe a man can fly.”

The planet Krypton explodes, and its last son rockets to Earth as an infant, growing up in Kansas as Clark Kent (Christopher Reeve). In Metropolis, he becomes Superman while the ambitious reporter Lois Lane (Margot Kidder) chases his story and the criminal Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) plots to reshape the world. Donner treats the impossible as fact, grounding the spectacle in human scale and letting the camera find wonder.
